Wednesday 01/02

Photo of the garden on the last day of the year, put some more manure where I plan on having tomatoes next spring.
Got a shot of Ernie the rooster coming out of casa de chicken, he was decorating the place for new years. He has only figured out how to decorated the floor so far.
New Year's day was a dreary morning and looked black and white so I went on and set the camera on B&W and took some photos while out feeding the animals.
I suspect that this old tree will fall on the building in 2013, neither is in very good shape but I will try and salvage some wood out of the building and cut the tree up for fire wood should things work out.
Went in and roasted some oxtail in the oven then on the stove top I later added cabbage and canned tomato as seen here. Cooked it down awhile and we had a nice New Year pot of cabbage for lunch.
In the afternoon we went over to a party at the leader of my wife's band's house on the side of Grassy Hill. The band played for awhile and we had lots of good food, too much actually. I took photos without flash and they of course turn out grainy but I kind of like them.
Wednesday morning and the girls went off to school and I went out to work on the barbed wire fence at the last section of pasture for the calves. Who ever built it put the bottom wire right down near the ground so it was useless except to slow down bunnies I guess. So I moved the wire around some to more fit where calves would squeeze through. I finally quit about mid afternoon as my had wore out and I couldn't use the hammer, I took some aspirins and it finally started working again. Should be able to finish the job tomorrow and give them fresh grass.
The boys as seen from the top of the pasture, they spend a lot of time hanging out at the feed trough.
I had to cut a lot of brush away from the fence before I could work on it and they got to eat some of the bushes or at least crunch on the twigs.
Carrie and I usually come out for internet on thursday nights but we are out on wednesday instead because Salvage Dawgs (black dog salvage's TV show) is on thursday at 8pm on HGTV.  It started out on DIY which we couldn't get but we get HGTV so we will be watching.

    1. It is kind of strange how things are set up as the first semester doesn't end for a couple weeks after new year. I think there is talk of having it end before christmas. So the poor darlings have to go back after vacation and try and remember everything for exams.

    1. Ernie is a Buff Orphington and is good sized but has seen his better day, he survived an attack a couple years ago from some unknown daylight predator that killed two others and hasn't been 100% since but is really lucky to have lived to be an old 5+ years. He still looks good when the hens leave him alone and don't worry him too much.

  3. Happy New Year to you! My daughter took her daughter (my granddaughter, Taylor) to school Wednesday morning. Turns out that school doesn't start back up until Thursday! Oh well, so much for sleeping in that one last day.

    1. Ah a cruel joke on the granddaughter, it will prepare her for the work world where things aren't fair and vacations are short!

    1. I haven't seen it online, we watched it and laughed at mike, he is so funny but he slips things in that you really have to listen for.
